This tour will take you the most important bird whatching areas in the west, east and south of Madagascar, where you can see many endemic and other birds. You’ll also see several nationalparks and reserves, such as Ampijoroa, Andasibe/Périnet, Ranomafana, Ranohira and Zombitse.

Day2: ANTANANARIVO – AMPIJOROA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Majunga (possibility of driving). Collect at the airport and transfer to Ampijoroa reserve located around 120km from Majunga. Overnight at Ampijoroa Lodge.
02 days for the visit of the park with its the reserve with its chameleons, lemurs as the Sifaka Coquereli, birds (Sickle-billed, White-headed and Hook-billed, Torotoroka Scops Owl, Grey-headed Lovebird, fish eagle, and Red-capped couas. … Overnight at the same lodge.
Day5: AMPIJOROA – ANTANANARIVO
Back to Majunga and flight to Tana (possibility of driving). Transfer to the hotel.
Day6: ANTANANARIVO – ANDASIBE
After breakfast, morning visit of Tsarasaotra park in Alarobia to watch water birds such as : Goliath and Purple Heron, Black herons, Red billed teal, Knob billed duck,….. Then drive to Andasibe through a landscape composed of rice fields , waterfalls, and scarce forest stations. Optional: visit of the butterfly park in Marozevo, nocturnal visit…. Overnight at the hotel.
02 days for the visit of the park where we can find the species dwelling inside this forest like Indri Indri, the tallest of all lemur species, chameleons, birds as the madagascar pond heron, Madagascar coucal, Madagascar Hoopoe, Fody Madagascariensis, Madagascar white-eye…. Overnight at the hotel.
Day9: ANDASIBE – ANTSIRABE
Drive back to Tana, then continuation to Antsirabe tour of the “Town of Water” or “Town of Rickshaws”: so called because of its numerous thermal springs and the existence of two lakes and its thousands of rickshaws. Overnight at the hotel.
Day10: ANTSIRABE – RANOMAFANA
After breakfast, drive to Ranomafana a national park. Stop in Ambositra for the visit of some Zafimaniry handicrafts centres: woodcarving…. Continuation to Ranomafana, check-in at the hotel, overnight.
02 days visits of this beautiful NP of rainforest where we can see various species of of lemurs such as the golden bamboo lemurs, brown lemurs, chameleons, frogs, birds: Madagascar crested ibis, Henst’s goshawk, various Vangas notably Blue, Rufous, Hook-billed, Red-tailed…. Overnight at the hotel.
Day13: RANOMAFANA – RANOHIRA
Early departure to Ranohira. Optional: visit the Anja park, where you can see some families of ring-tailed lemurs in their natural surroundings. Continuation to Ranohira, arrival in Ranohira at sunset. Overnight.
Day14: RANOHIRA – ZOMBITSE
Optional: visit of Isalo NP with its ruine-like rocks, canyons, endemic fauna and flora such as Lemurs , plants such as Pachypodiums, aloes, the Satrana ( Medemia palms ). Then drive to Zombitse-Vohibasia NP. Overnight at a simple lodge.
Day15: ZOMBITSE – TOLIARA – IFATY
Morning visit of the park with plants, lemurs, birds… the endemic Appert’s greenbul, as well as Zombitse’s many other specials. We will look for Madagascar partridge, Madagascar buttonquail, the stately Giant coua, Madagascar sandgrouse,;Madagascar lesser cuckoo, Madagascar cuckoo-shrike, Thamnornis warbler, Common newtonia….. After the visit, off to Tulear along a straight road. The landscape is composed of high bushes, thick gallery forests and some proudly decorated Mahafaly tombs. Arrival in Tulear, drive to Ifaty with 4WD car. Check-in at the hotel. Overnight.
Day free in Ifaty (4WD car at your disposal). Optional visit of the spiny forest with its Baobab, pachypodiums, Euphorbia….In ifaty we can find also with some luck Madagascar buzzard, Madagascar harrier hawk, Madagascar kestrel, Madagascar button Quail, Sub desert Mesite, Whimbrel, Common greenshank, Black-winged stilt, Grey Plover, Lesser crested -tern, Madagascar turtle-dove, Madagascar green pigeon, Greater Vasa parrot, Lesser vasa parrot, Grey-headed lovebird, Madagascar lesser Cuckoo, Red-fronted Coua, Running Coua, Green-capped Coua, Crested Coua, Madagascar Coucal, Madagascar Nightjar, Madagascar swift, Madagascar bee-eater, Madagascar Cuckoo-shrike, Red-tailed vanga, Hook-billed vanga, Sickle-billed Vanga, White-headed Vanga, Chabert Vanga, Madagascar magpie robin, Long-billed greenbul, Sub desert brush-warbler, Thamnornis Warbler, Common Newtonia, Archbolds Newtonia, Common Jery, Madagascar Munia, Sakalava Weaver, Madagascar fody, Madagascar Lark.,…. Overnight at the hotel.
Day17: IFATY – TOLIARA
Morning free, in the afternoon, drive back to Tulear (4WD car at your disposal). Overnight at the hotel.
Day18: TOLIARA – ANAKAO
Morning transfer to the Mahavatse port for the boat to Anakao. Overnight at the hotel.
Day19: ANAKAO Excursion NOSY VE
Excursion to Nosy Ve where we can see the red-tailed tropicbird. Back to Anakao, overnight at the hotel.
Day 20: ANAKAO – TOLIARA – ANTANANARIVO
Boat transfer to Tulear, then transfer to the airport for the flight to Tana. Collect at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight
Day21: ANTANANARIVO – EUROPE
Transfer to the airport. End of services.
