In the west, there are two larger cities: Majunga (Mahajanga in malagasy language) and Morondava.
Both can be reached by car or airplane.

Morondava ist he starting point to go to he famoused Baobab Avenue and the „Baobab in love“, but you can also go further north and visit the Kirindy dry forest reserve, or even further north to Belo-sur-Tsiribihina (where the river trip down the Tsiribihina river arrives), and further to Bekopaka and the Tsingy of Bemaraha, which is on the list oft he UNESCO world nature sites.

South of Morondava, you can visit Belo-sur-mer with its mangroves and diving spots, but also its workshops where they build large wooden boats still with ancients methods. A bit further south, there’s also the national park of Kirindy Mitea with many endemic species.

Mahajanga ist he second largest harbour city, also with a bustling nightlife, and a huge and very old Baobab tree. Mahajanga also has some interesting sites nearby: Ankarafantsika national park (popular especially among bird whatchers), Bay of Baly and Namoroka national parks, a sacred lake, the grottos (caves) of Belobaka and of Anjohibe, mangroves…


Birdwatching Tour

(21 days / 20 nights)

This tour will take you the most important bird whatching areas in the west, east and south of Madagascar, where you can see many endemic and other birds. You’ll also see several nationalparks and reserves, such as Ampijoroa, Andasibe/Périnet, Ranomafana, Ranohira and Zombitse.

 

 

 

 


East, West and South

(20 days / 19 nights)

Visit of the reserve of Périnet / Andasibe, then drive to Miandrivazo for the start of the downstream Tsiribihina River trip. Visit of the Tsingy of Bemaraha (UNESCO world heritage site) and drive through the baobab alley. Flight to Toliara and then visit of the Nationalparks of Isalo and Ranomafana. This tour can only be done from June until October and is for the more sporty and adventurous type of customer, it is unsuitable for big people and people who are afraid of heights, as there are passages in the Tsingys where you have to climb through narrow gaps.

 

 

 



South & East Tour

(16 days / 15 nights)

A very nice classical tour that gives a great view of the different landscapes, fauna and flora of Madagascar. Drive to the South with visits of the Ranomafana and Isalo National park. In Tulear visit of the Arboretum and flight back to Tana, then continuation to the east with a visit of the Perinet park and along the Pangalanes canal until Tamatave. Flight to the Sainte Marie island to relax on the beach. Extension on Sainte Marie island possible.

 

 

 

 


South with Taolagnaro

(15 days/ 14 nights)

First a visit of the Andasibe reserve, then classical southern tour with visit of the nationalparks of Ranomafana and Isalo, then visit of Ifaty with its nice beach and endemic flora. Flight to Ft. Dauphin and visit of the Berenty reserve.

 

 

 

 

 



South and the Tsingy

(15 days/ 14 nights)

At the beginning classical southern tour, with a trip to Ranomafana and Isalo nationalparks. Then, flight to Morondava and  drive by 4wd car through the famoused Baobab Alley and on to Belo and then to Bekopaka. You can see the sharp and up to 30 m high limestones called “Tsingy”, which are a UNESCO world nature site.  The tour is unsuitable for big people and people who are afraid of heights as there are passages in the Tsingys where you have to climb through narrow gaps. Due to weather conditions possible only end of May to October.

Visit Ifaty with its beautiful beach and backlands with endemic fauna and flora. Drive to Ranohira and visit of the Isalo nationalpark, then continuation and visit of the rainforest of Ranomafana with its nationalpark. Drive to the sea at the east, then by boat along the Pangalanes canal to Ambohitsara, a typical village between sea and canal, also known for its “white elephant statue”.
